Jeff is a native of Evansville, Indiana, currently residing in Bloomington. He graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Sports Management.

Jeff earned his Tour card for 2006 on his first try by finishing T-13 at Q School and earned his degree a year later. As a rookie, he made 19 of 29 cuts but was 126th in the All-Around stat ranking and was never in the top-10 after three rounds. Playing 2007 with top 126-150 status, his improvement was dramatic – up to sixth in the All-Around and among the top-10 five times over 54 holes. Leading after three rounds at the Wyndham Championship, Jeff was overtaken by a 63, but comfortably secured full playing privileges for the 2008 season.
